For weeks, rumors have swirled that Lucasfilm has cast Mena Massoud as live-action Ezra Bridger. Best known for his role as the Agrabahrian street rat in Disney’s Aladdin, Massoud has become a household name among the Star Wars fandom. Prior to these rumors, the actor was one of the top fan casts for the titular character.
Since the rumors first originated, there has been no official confirmation of Massoud’s casting. However, in a recent Instagram post, it seems that the actor subtly confirmed that he will be joining the Star Wars universe as the Lothalian street rat.
Massoud teased fans with a shirtless photo of himself with the caption:
“Hey, just so you know, when I escape, I won’t hurt any of you.”

Although Massoud didn’t explicitly confirm his casting as Ezra Bridger, the caption he shared is a line from Star Wars Rebels Season Two episode called “Stealth Strike,” where the animated version of the character spoke to a group of stormtroopers.
Massoud is one of three actors linked to the live-action Ezra Bridger role, including Rebels voice actor Taylor Gray and Rahul Kohli.
Reports indicate that Ezra Bridger will make his live-action debut in the Rebels prequel series, Ahsoka.
