For many Star Wars fans, Obi-Wan Kenobi is the most anticipated Star Wars project in a long time—possibly since the first season of The Mandalorian.
So far, we’ve seen Obi-Wan Kenobi in the trailer including his foes like the Grand Inquisitor and other Sith Brothers and Sisters. While Darth Vader is sure to have a major impact on the overall story, one cannot disregard the evil designs of the Grand Inquisitor which was last seen in the animated series Star Wars Rebels.
In an interview with Rupert Friend via Digital Spy, the actor broke his silence on playing the Grand Inquisitor in the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Among many things, Friend revealed that he did “sweat buckets” wearing the costume and prosthetics:
“It was a sweaty, sweaty suit, and I did sweat buckets inside the prosthetics, which would pour across my face at the end of a day and make me look like a very, very miserable clown…but so worth it!”
Rupert Friend
He continued on with his appreciation of the ” relationship between the stories and the fans”:
“It’s amazing. They have literally built a universe over the years, and the incredible thing about is the relationship between the stories and the fans is completely interlaced – they are as connected with those stories as those of us who make it, and you really feel like you’re in dialogue as you do it… It’s an amazing thing to be a part of.”

The Grand Inquisitors’ emergence from animation to live-action is something that fans thought they would never witness. Then, with more Brothers and Sisters introduced in the popular game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, it seemed that Lucasfilm had become more active in implementing these Jedi hunters in their stories.
Actor Jason Isaacs was the last one to play the Grand Inquisitor and was often the winning choice of many fan-made online polls to play him in live-action. The question is, “Will Rupert Friend be able to match Isaac’s legendary performance?” Let us know in the comments below!
